Rich in amino acids

If it says on a dog food that it is "rich in amino acids", it means that this food contains a high amount of amino acids. Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins and are essential for your dog's health. They are necessary for many important functions in your dog's body, such as building muscles, repairing tissues, supporting the immune system and producing hormones and enzymes.

There are two types of amino acids: essential and non-essential amino acids. Essential amino acids cannot be produced by your dog's body, so they must be obtained from food. Non-essential amino acids can be produced by the body, but sometimes in insufficient quantities, especially during times of stress or illness.

If a dog food is labeled as "rich in amino acids", this usually indicates that it is a good source of essential amino acids. This is especially important for dogs that are active, growing, pregnant, nursing or recovering from illness. An adequate supply of amino acids helps to ensure that your dog stays healthy and vital.

However, you should make sure that your dog gets a balanced diet. An excessive intake of proteins or amino acids is not necessarily better and can lead to health problems in some dogs.
