Biotechnology
When we talk about the property "biotechnology" in relation to an ingredient for dog food, we are referring to how that ingredient has been produced or modified. Biotechnology is a broad field that encompasses the use of biological systems, organisms or derivatives to produce or modify products for specific applications.
In relation to dog food, this could mean that certain ingredients are produced or improved by biotechnological methods. For example, microorganisms could be used to produce nutrients that are then added to the food. Or it could mean that genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are used to achieve certain properties such as increased nutrient content or improved digestibility.
Biotechnology in animal nutrition can also lead to the development of probiotics, enzymes or other bioactive components that promote animal health and welfare. It is important to note that the use of biotechnological methods in food and feed production is strictly regulated and the safety and efficacy of the products must be guaranteed.
