A representation of Mango puree

Mango puree is a tasty and healthy ingredient that you can give your dog as a special treat from time to time. In this article, you will find out what mango puree is, how you can make it yourself and what advantages and disadvantages it has for your dog.

What is mango puree?

Mango puree is nothing more than pureed mango. Mango is a tropical fruit that contains many important nutrients, such as

  • beta-carotene
  • vitamin B
  • vitamin C
  • vitamin E
  • potassium
  • magnesium
  • calcium
  • folic acid

Mango has a sweet and mild taste and a soft texture. It is therefore ideal for pureeing and as an ingredient in various recipes.

How do I make mango puree?

To make mango puree, all you need is a ripe mango and a blender or hand blender. This is how you proceed:

  1. Peel the mango and remove the stone.
  2. Cut the flesh into small pieces.
  3. Place the mango pieces in the blender or in a bowl and puree until smooth.
  4. Your mango puree is ready!

You can feed the mango puree on its own or mix it with other ingredients, such as yogurt, quark or oatmeal.

What are the benefits of mango puree for dogs?

When fed in moderation, mango puree can help to improve your dog's health. This is what the tropical vitamin bomb does:

  • Mango promotes appetite and stimulates your dog's metabolism.
  • Mango can have a positive effect on the heart and brain and has an anti-inflammatory effect.
  • Mango helps to improve blood clotting and eyesight.
  • Mango not only makes your dog's eyes shine. When fed occasionally, it can also help your dog's coat to shine again!

What are the disadvantages of mango puree for dogs?

Although mango puree is healthy, it is also very sweet. This is due to the high fructose content of the mango. You should therefore only give your dog small amounts and not too often.

Too much fructose can lead to obesity, diabetes or tooth decay. It can also lead to digestive problems or diarrhea if your dog is sensitive to fruit.

If your dog tends to be overweight, it is better to feed him little or no fruit. The sweet fruit should not be fed daily, even to slim dogs. It's better to think of it as a rare treat.
