What is apple puree?

Apple puree is nothing more than cooked and pureed apples. You can easily prepare it yourself by peeling, coring and cutting apples into small pieces. Then cook them in a little water until they are soft. Then puree them with a hand blender or food processor until smooth. The apple puree is ready!

You can feed the apple puree to your dog on its own or mix it with his food. However, make sure that you don't give your dog too much, as apples contain a lot of fructose and can cause diarrhea or flatulence in sensitive dogs. As a rule of thumb, an average-sized dog can eat about half an apple a day.

What are the benefits of apple puree for dogs?

Apples are very healthy for dogs because they contain many important vitamins, minerals and fiber. These can promote your dog's health and well-being in various ways:

What are the disadvantages of apple puree for dogs?

Although apple puree is healthy for dogs, it is not suitable in every situation. There are some disadvantages that you should consider before giving your dog apple puree:

• Apple puree contains a lot of fructose, which can lead to obesity, diabetes or tooth decay if given in excessive doses.
• Apple puree can trigger allergies or intolerances in some dogs. Therefore, watch out for possible symptoms such as itching, rashes or vomiting after eating apple puree.
• Apple puree can cause diarrhea or flatulence in sensitive dogs. Therefore, only give your dog small amounts of apple puree and observe his reaction to it.
• Apple puree should not replace your dog's main food, but only serve as a supplement. Your dog needs a balanced diet with all the essential nutrients he needs, not just apples.
