Low glycemic index
"Low glycemic index" means that the carbohydrates it contains have only a small effect on your dog's blood sugar level. The glycemic index (GI) is a measure of how quickly and to what extent a food raises blood sugar levels. Foods with a low GI are digested and absorbed more slowly, resulting in a slower and lower rise in blood sugar.
Food with a low glycemic index can be beneficial for your dog, especially if they have diabetes or are prone to obesity. The slower release of sugar from the food keeps blood sugar levels more stable, which can improve energy levels and general well-being.
Low GI foods often contain complex carbohydrates such as certain grains, vegetables or legumes, which are digested slowly. However, it is always important to ensure a balanced diet and consult a vet if you have any health concerns or special dietary requirements for your dog.
