Food supplements

When an ingredient in a dog's diet is labeled "dietary supplement", it means that this ingredient provides additional nutrients that are not necessarily present in sufficient quantities in your dog's normal diet. These supplements are designed to enrich your dog's daily diet and ensure they get all the vitamins, minerals and other nutrients they need.

Supplements can take a variety of forms, such as tablets, powders, liquids or specially fortified treats. They may contain specific nutrients such as glucosamine for joint health, omega fatty acids for skin and coat, probiotics for digestive health or vitamins and minerals for general wellbeing.

It is important to note that supplements are not intended to replace a balanced diet, but to supplement it. They should only be given after consultation with a veterinarian, especially if your dog has certain health problems or special nutritional needs. Overdosing on certain vitamins or minerals can be harmful to dogs, so it's important to stick to the recommended dosage and keep an eye on your dog's overall diet.
