By-product

"By-product" in relation to dog food usually refers to parts of animals or plants that are not used in the production of food for humans. However, these parts are not necessarily of inferior quality or unhealthy for dogs. Typical examples of animal by-products are organs such as liver or kidneys, which are less popular in human diets but can be nutrient-rich and healthy for dogs.

Plant by-products can be parts of vegetables or grains that are less utilized in the human diet. It is important to understand that 'by-product' is not synonymous with 'waste'. These ingredients can be perfectly nutritious and safe for your pet as long as they have been properly processed and tested for quality.
