What is venison?

Venison is the meat of various deer species such as red deer, fallow deer or roe deer. It belongs to the so-called game meat varieties, which differ from other types of meat such as beef or poultry. Deer meat has a characteristic taste and a dark red color.

How can you give your dog venison?

You can give your dog venison in various ways:

  • As fresh meat: You can feed the meat raw or cooked or mix it with other ingredients such as vegetables or rice. Make sure that you only buy high-quality meat and prepare it hygienically.
  • As dry food: You can buy ready-made dry food with venison as the main ingredient. Make sure that it contains no artificial additives and is sufficiently moist.
  • As a chew: You can buy dried deer chews, such as ear shells or tendons. These are good for dental care and will keep your dog busy.
