Fruit powder is a product made from fresh fruit. The fruit is harvested when ripe and then subjected to a special process in which the liquid is removed. They are also frozen so that the water molecules pass directly from the solid to the gaseous state. The result is a fine powder that contains the fruit's vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.

Fruit powder can be used in a variety of ways. For example, it can be sprinkled over food or mixed with water or milk to make a shake or smoothie. It is suitable as a supplement to the normal diet or as a treat between meals.

But what are the benefits of fruit powder for dogs? And are there any disadvantages?

Benefits of fruit powder for dogs

  • Fruit powder provides important nutrients for dogs, such as vitamin C, beta-carotene, iron and potassium. These can strengthen the immune system, promote healthy skin and coat and aid digestion.
  • Fruit powder has a natural and intense flavor. This can appeal to dogs that are otherwise not very interested in fruit or are picky eaters.
  • Fruit powder has a long shelf life and is easy to store. It does not need a fridge and takes up little space. It can also be handy for trips or outings.
  • Fruit powder is easy to dose. Depending on the size of the dog, a knife point to a teaspoon per day is sufficient.

Disadvantages of fruit powder for dogs

  • Fruit powder often contains a lot of sugar. If consumed in excess, this can lead to obesity or dental problems. You should therefore always check the list of ingredients and only buy pure fruit powder without additives.
  • Fruit powder can trigger allergies or intolerances. Some dogs are sensitive to certain types of fruit or have a fructose intolerance. You should therefore always be careful with new products and observe your dog's reaction.
  • Fruit powder does not replace fresh fruit. Although it contains many nutrients, it lacks the high water content that contributes to hydration. In addition, fresh fruit has more fiber, which satiates and regulates blood sugar levels. Therefore, fresh fruit should always be offered as part of a balanced diet.

Fruit powder is an interesting product that can have many benefits for dogs. It can be a tasty and healthy addition to food if used in moderation. However, you should always pay attention to the quality, dosage and tolerance. And of course, don't forget that fresh fruit is still unbeatable.
