What are chicken giblets?

Chicken giblets are the internal organs of chickens that are not suitable for human consumption. These include, for example, the heart, liver, stomach, kidneys and spleen. These organs contain many important nutrients for dogs, such as protein, iron, vitamin A and B vitamins. They are also usually cheaper than other types of meat.

What are the benefits of chicken giblets for dogs?

Chicken giblets can have many benefits for your dog if you feed them in moderation. For example, they can

  • Strengthen the immune system
  • promote digestion
  • nourish the skin and coat
  • Support the eyes and brain
  • Strengthen muscles and heart

What are the disadvantages of chicken giblets for dogs?

Chicken giblets are not without risk for your dog. For example, they can

  • lead to diarrhea or vomiting if they are fed too quickly or in too large quantities
  • lead to an overdose of vitamin A if they are fed too often
  • contain bacteria or parasites if they are not fresh or sufficiently heated
  • cause allergies or intolerances in sensitive dogs.

How do I feed chicken giblets correctly?

If you want to feed your dog chicken giblets, there are a few points you should bear in mind:

  • Only feed high-quality chicken giblets from trustworthy sources.
  • Feed only small amounts and mix them with other ingredients.
  • Do not feed more than 10% giblets in relation to the total feed.
  • Do not feed the same giblets every day
  • Do not feed raw offal, but boil or fry it briefly.
  • Do not feed offal from sick or vaccinated animals
  • Do not feed offal from animals that have been treated with antibiotics or hormones.

Chicken giblets can be a useful addition to your dog's diet if they are fed correctly. They provide many important nutrients and can promote your dog's health. However, make sure that you only feed high-quality offal in moderation and that it is well tolerated by your dog.
