Its leaves are oval, grow on stems and have a very impressive pattern. The upper side of the leaves is green with a dark edge and a silver pattern in the middle. The underside of the leaves is wine-red. The leaves move up and down depending on the time of day, which has earned the plant the nickname "prayer plant".
